Using the Apple Watch series 2 as an activity tracker | Ars Technica

There's a lot to talk about in the Apple Watch series 2. Ars Technica's Valentina Palladino tests out the series 2 Apple Watch as an activity tracker: she compares the original version v series 1 v series 2, and tests the swim and run tracker, GPS, Apple's Workout, Activity and Breathe apps, 3rd party apps, and various other enhancements. Samantha Turn: What size were you using?

Themoneymaker0129: An amazing review!

Kenneth Pocasangre: I used the GPS on my ultra marathon (40 miles) and I still had 12% battery left! The GPS is more than perfect for casual runners. So my total time for my Ultra marathon was about 6 hours w/o the heart rate monitor on. I'd definitely recommend this watch to anyone. I own the 42mm Apple Nike edition :)

Judi Morningstar: Great review.

Steven Andrews: Totally unhelpful

Michael Harren: Wow! Great review!

Joyful Adventures: Hi, how do I use the "Step Tracker" in the Activity Tracker app? My steps are at zero, and I do not understand why. Please help. Thank you!

Lamin Darboe: Like

Bart baker Cierra Kratochvil: Nice video

Lucifer Laveaux: Wow the best review of the Apple Watch ⌚️ on YouTube

pie123680: I got the series 2 and its great!!!!

James Nine: Good review, thank you for posting.

Cocoa Brown: Great.

Dennis Valdivia: Great info .. just got my series 1 and love it... 2 day battery life easily, and a great gym fitness tracker

Bend Em: I doubt 100% of water comes out surely some stays. Just because it's said !!!
I would like to see the watch opened after the water extraction to see f dry or some % wet

Sharon C.L.: You did a wonderful review, I just got a series 2 Apple Watch and have been trying to learn about it in practical terms through a video and yours was perfect! Thank you.

HNK2015: 6:55, what app is that on her phone?

Crystal Illuminous: I've been watching videos (while waiting for my watch to arrive). This has been the MOST informative by far!! I didn't realize the importance of "locking" the phone in water mode (if I read the booklet I'd probably learn that). The way the intuitive aspect of GPS on for outdoor activities vs. indoor (so there won't be battery wasted), being able to turn off the heart rate to extend the battery). Also, the details about the breathing app is really useful. I was debating on either upgrading my fitbit or getting a smart watch, this video really helped getting me excited for this purchase and showing me I made the right choice!. Thank you!

Anthony Clayton: Best review I have seen. When you run with Nike Run Club will it use GPS without your phone? Also, do Nike runs show up in your apple workouts? On iOS I only get calorie info from my Nike runs synced to Health but not the actual run workout, which I find frustrating since Apple is supposedly partnered with Nike, yet other companies like Strava managed to sync their runs to the Apple workout tracker.
